Most B2B content is written to sound impressive. The content that actually generates pipeline is written to be useful to one specific person.

71% of B2B decision-makers say thought leadership is more effective than traditional product marketing at communicating a company's value, and among internal stakeholders like finance, legal, and procurement, 95% say it makes them more receptive to sales outreach. The content itself is doing real commercial work, not just building awareness in the abstract. Here is the framework we run for every founder client at Inizio.

Step one: define the one person every post is written for

Before any content gets written, we get specific about exactly who the content is for. Not a broad description of an industry, but a precise picture of one type of buyer: their role, their actual problem, what they already believe, and what would need to be true for them to trust a stranger on LinkedIn.

Content written for everyone reaches almost no one with any force. Content written for one specific person, even if fewer people engage with it overall, converts a meaningfully higher share of the right people into real conversations.

Step two: build three or four content pillars, not a list of topics

A content calendar built around random ideas produces posts that feel disconnected from each other, even when each individual post is reasonably good. A content strategy built around three or four specific pillars, tied directly to the buyer's actual problems, produces a body of work that reads as coherent over time.

Each pillar should represent something the founder genuinely believes and has real experience to back up. This is what separates content that builds authority from content that simply fills a calendar.

Step three: lead every post with a recognisable problem, not a lesson

The instinct in most B2B content is to lead with the insight or the lesson learned. The content that performs best does the opposite. It opens with a problem the reader already recognises from their own experience, then offers the insight as the resolution.

A post that names a specific frustration a buyer has been living with, but has never seen articulated clearly, earns far more engagement than a post that opens straight into advice. Recognition pulls a reader in. A lesson, stated upfront, does not.

Step four: use specific proof instead of general claims

A post that states "our average client sees significant growth" is forgettable. A post that states a specific number, tied to a specific situation, is the kind of claim a reader can actually evaluate and remember. Specificity is the mechanism through which credibility travels on LinkedIn, particularly for B2B audiences who are naturally more sceptical of vague claims.

This is also where most ghostwritten B2B content fails. It produces content that is technically correct but says nothing a reader could not have guessed. The posts that build real authority are full of detail that only someone who actually did the work could know.

Step five: maintain the same voice and point of view across every post

Founder posts on a given topic typically earn three to five times the engagement of company page posts on the same topic, because a personal account carries conviction that a company account structurally cannot. That advantage only holds if the voice stays consistent. A founder whose posts could have been written by anyone loses the trust advantage that personal accounts are supposed to provide.

We build a voice reference for every client before writing a single post, covering not just tone but the actual beliefs and opinions that make their perspective distinct. Every post is checked against that reference before it goes out.

Step six: connect content to outreach, not just to engagement

Content alone builds trust slowly. Content combined with outreach that runs in parallel produces conversations far sooner, because prospects who encounter a message after having already seen relevant content respond differently than prospects encountering a cold message for the first time.

The framework is not complete until content and outreach are working from the same positioning and pointed at the same buyer.
